Joyce Carr, of Lafayette, passed away on May 13 at the age of 85.

Funeral services were conducted on May 16 from the Anderson & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Lafayette, with Ottis Jones officiating. Interment was held in Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Adam Carter, Todd Dickerson, Hershel Cook, Conner Byars, Kerry Cook, Craig Cook, William Carter and Stratt Byars IV served as pallbearers.

Joyce was born in the Holland community of Kentucky on Aug. 31, 1933, one of 11 children born to the late Hershel B. and Calsie (Swindle) Cook. She was also raised by Connie and Hazel Jent.

She was married to Jack Daniel Carr, Jr., on March 3, 1956, who preceded her in death on July 9, 1996.

In addition to her husband of 40 years, she was preceded in death by: her brothers, Dion Cook, Billy Cook, Paul Cook, Ward Cook, Jerome Cook, Jack Cook; sisters, Fannie Gibbs, Sylvia Crabtree; and sister-in-law, Mary Louis Moreland.

Joyce worked at Tri-County Electric as a meter clerk for several years before becoming disabled in an automobile accident.

Joyce left her testimony of being saved and was a member of Maple Grove Missionary Baptist Church No. 2.

Joyce's family has many fond memories of her being a precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by: her son and daughter-in-law, Jack (Willa) Carr III of the New Harmony community of Macon County; daughters and son-in-law, Connie (Stratt) Byars of Russellville, Alabama, Joy Carr of Lafayette; brother, Gary (Carolyn) Cook of Scottsville, Kentucky; sister, Jo Nell (Warren) Vaughan of Bowling Green, Kentucky, grandchildren, Angie (Todd) Dickerson of Pleasant Shade; Adam (DesiRae) Carter of the New Harmony community, Lori Carr of the New Harmony community, Anna Byars Russellville, Alabama, Conner Byars of Russellville, Stratt (Carrie) Byars IV of Monteagle; great-grandchildren, Emma Dickerson, Leah Dickerson, Lucas Carter, AdaLynn Carter, Nickolas Carter, Ayden Carr; sisters-in-law, Polly Cook Doris, Ida (Louie) Tucker, Katherine Winn; special caretakers, Charlene Piercey and Clara Sue Gregory; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were entrusted to Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette.
