Jennifer Kay Summers

Jennifer Kay Summers, 40, of Lafayette, passed away on Dec. 31, 2023, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Sumner County.

A celebration of life service was conducted on Jan. 4 at 6 p.m. from the chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette, with Angela Craighead officiating.

Interment will be at a later date.

Jennifer Kay Summers was born on Dec. 6, 1983, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to Lisa Kay Carver Summers and the late Carl Allen “Boo” Summers and departed this life on Dec. 31, 2023 at the age of 40 years and 25 days.

In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Allen “Bubba” Summers, and her paternal grandparents, Billy and Polly Summers.

Jennifer got her master’s degree in elementary education at Cumberland University. She was a Kindergarten teacher at Westside for 6 years and she also taught second grade at Trousdale County for 10 years before that.

Jennifer loved her family.

Survivors include: her daughter, Destiney Summers; grandson, Amauri Summers; mother, Lisa Summers (and companion, Timmy Hammock); sister, Allison (and Josh) Knight; maternal grandparents, Euna and Bobby Carver; special niece and nephew, Mattie and Jayden Gross; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, Westside School family and Trousdale County school family.

Arrangements were entrusted to Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette.
