Ronald Dean Morey was born into this world Oct. 30, 1938, in Decatur, Illinois, to the late Harold Dean Morey and May Blossom Eagleton Morey.

He passed peacefully from this life Wednesday, March 6, 2024, making his earthly stay 85 years, four months, and seven days.

Along with his parents, Ron was also preceded in death by his sister, Janet Morey Carpenter.

Ron serviced his country by joining the United States Air Force July 8, 1958. He was honorably discharged June 19, 1962.

On Nov. 24, 1977, Ron was joined in holy matrimony to Miss Lauretta Agnes Gregory. They have been blessed with over 46 years of marriage.

Ron was a sales representative for Stockhausen and retired in 2003. He was a faithful member of the Lafayette United Methodist Church and was a very passionate and active member of the local American Legion. Ron would frequently visit the funeral home to get a pocket full of mints and possibly some note pads, ink pens or calendars. He would open the front door and yell, “It’s just me”, in true Ron fashion, and would proceed to aggravate and share pleasantries. We so enjoyed his visits and Ron’s presence around Lafayette will be greatly missed!

Ron Morey is survived by his wife, Lauretta Gregory Morey; children, Victor Allen Morey and wife, Darla, Vance Douglas Morey and Deadra “Dee” K. Jewell; granddaughter, Jessica Alley and husband, Jon; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Alley and Payton Alley; and brother, Robert Morey, of Prescott, Arizona.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday March 9, 2024, from the chapel of Alexander funeral home with Pastor Gene Martino Jr. officiating. Interment followed in the Macon County Memorial Gardens.

Alexander Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements, 615-666-2189, alexanderfh.com.
