RED BOILING SPRINGS — Red Boiling Springs split a pair of Saturday games, beating Mt. Juliet Christian Academy 10-2 and losing to Sunbright 5-4.
Sunbright took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and went up 5-0 in the third. The Bulldogs bounced back with a run in the fourth before falling short with three in the fifth, and final, frame with the tying run left on second base.
Jayden White hit a two-run double and scored on Aayden Cherry’s RBI two-bagger.
Brodie Huffines’ RBI single put the Bulldogs on the board in the fourth inning.
Aiden Link pitched the full five innings for RBS, allowing three earned runs on five hits and a walk with eight strikeouts.
Against Mt. Juliet Christian, the Bulldogs scored seven runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Joe Birdwell doubled as he and Link drove in two runs each. Will Massey also doubled.
Cherry pitched 4 2/3 innings for the win, allowing an earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out 10.
RBS splits district series with Clay CountyRed Boiling Springs gained a split of its District 7-1A home-and-home series with Clay County with a 9-4 win in RBS on Tuesday.
Clay County beat its fellow Bulldogs 10-5 in Celina on Monday.
After spotting Clay County two runs on errors in the top of the third inning Tuesday, Red Boiling Springs answered with three in the third and fourth innings and tacked on three more in the sixth, which was more than enough to withstand two additional CC scores in the seventh.
Chris Hackney dropped a two-run single into center field to tie the score in the bottom of the third and brought in the go-ahead run on Aiden Link’s groundout to second.
Hackney added an RBI single to right in the fourth with a second run coming home on an error. He scored on Link’s sacrifice fly to center.
Aubrey Link pitched the full seven innings for the win. The left-hander allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out 11.
Hackney had three RBIs as he, Aayden Cherry and Joe Birdwell each had two of RBS’ eight hits.
On Monday, Clay County answered every RBS score with even more runs, at least early in the game. The hosts tacked on three runs in the fourth before the visitors got two in the fifth.
Abiel Perez Mendoza drove in three RBS runs while Jayden White had two of the visitors’ seven hits. Aiden Link had a double.
Perez Mendoza pitched the first three innings and took the loss. He and two relievers surrendered nine hits and six walks while striking out six.
Red Boiling Springs run-ruled at Clinton County, Ky.ALBANY, Ky. — Clinton County scored in all six at-bats Thursday to roll past Red Boiling Springs 13-3.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning on an error.
Red Boiling Springs didn’t score again until the fourth when Joe Birdwell lined a two-run double to center field.
Clinton County collected 11 hits off Jared White and Chris Hackney.
Red Boiling Springs had three hits.
