Following an 0-4 start to the baseball season, Macon County enjoyed a big week last week with five straight wins, capped by a 6-1 win over host Allen County-Scottsville.
Hunter Patterson pitched a complete-game two-hitter against Allen County with no walks and 11 strikeouts. The Patriots’ run was unearned.
The Tigers scored all their runs in the second, third and fourth innings, finishing the game with 10 hits.
Hayes Polston had a pair of hits while Matthew Wheeley drove in two runs. Patterson and Kaden Woodard doubled.
Macon County hosted Springfield on Friday and won 8-1.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and broke it open with five in the fourth, finishing with 12 hits.
Polston drove in three runs and doubled. Braylon Flowers also doubled as he and Jake Meador each managed three hits. Woodard collected two hits.
Jacob Hunt pitched a complete-game two-hitter with three walks and eight strikeouts. Springfield’s run in the seventh was unearned.
Macon County crushes Clay 9-1CELINA — Macon County enjoyed three scoring innings Thursday as the Tigers topped Clay County 9-1.
The Tigers scored four times in the second inning, two in the fourth and three in the fifth as they won their third straight after an 0-4 start.
Freshman Jake Meador homered and drove in four runs. Chase Keene and Hayes Polston doubled. Gage Jones had three hits, while Meador and Braylon Flowers each finished with two.
Flowers pitched a seven-inning complete game, allowing five hits and no walks while striking out 14.
Tigers twice rout Jackson County for first wins of seasonMacon County baseball got its first two wins of the season early last week with a 13-0 win over Jackson County in Lafayette on March 18 and a 22-0 trouncing of the Blue Devils the following day in Gainesboro.
The Tigers scored in all four at-bats of their March 18 game, finishing with 12 hits.
Jake Meador had three hits and Landon Connor two as each drove in three runs. Kaden Woodard, Braylon Flowers and Hayes Polston also had a pair of hits apiece.
Braxton Lloyd pitched three innings for the win before Gage Jones tossed the last two of the combined one-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
The next day, Macon County scored in four of the five innings, finishing with 17 hits.
Jordan Rogers doubled as he and Meador drove in three runs each. Corbin Stephens had two hits as he and Eli Carver had two RBIs apiece. Flowers, Matthew Wheeley and Chase Keene doubled.
Hayden Dean pitched two innings and picked up the win as he, Keene and Roman Brawner combined to give up eight hits.
